Paddle boarding is an exciting and very unusual way to explore Bangkok, whilst working out. With the guidance of an instructor you paddle down the Chao Phraya on a two hour round trip seeing temples, local homes, boat sellers and plenty of catfish.

Before braving the water, you are shown how to hold the paddle, stand, and get back onto the paddle board (should you be so unfortunate as to fall into the water)! The main instruction is to always keep your head up and look ahead, and we found it really helped with none of us finding ourselves submerged in the murky Chao Phraya water.

Once the basic instruction is over, you kneel on the paddle board and are gently pushed out into the river. From here, you need to stand. This is probably the scariest part of the whole experience but once up you will see it is worth overcoming the fear. Life jackets are available if you’re not confident in your paddling or swimming abilities.

It’s very relaxing heading down the river and the locals are all very excited to see you- waving, shouting and taking photos. It’s a very different view of Bangkok. We even had the opportunity to take a seat and feed some hungry cat fish.

The facilities at SUP station Thailand are excellent with clean toilets, showers and changing facilities. We were told you can even book for groups of up to 25 people and arrange for a BBQ at the end of the session. The setting is calm and relaxing with a wonderful viewing platform overlooking the river

We definitely recommend a visit and plan to return to try their paddle boarding Yoga, or even visit the new branch in Koh Chang for some new and different views.
