Bangkok open air cinema club is the perfect way to make that lazy film night a little bit less ordinary. Located on the roof top of The Hive, you can lay back and relax watching films under the stars and admiring the Bangkok sky line (unfortunately our photos do it no justice whatsoever)!
The Bangkok outdoor cinema club is spread across two floors. The first floor has both an indoor and outdoor seating area to choose from. Here, there is also a bar serving food and drinks. Inside, there are long workbench style tables whilst the outdoor area has more of a roof top garden feel.
Tickets for events need to be booked in advance online. The ticket includes free pop corn and a beer or soft drink. These are collected on arrival. Aside from the free pop corn, other food is also available such as mixed sausages (160baht), french fries (80 baht), potato wedges (80 baht) nuggets (80 baht), calamari (95 baht) chicken new orleans (80 baht). Food can be eaten prior to the start of the film or staff will also bring it to you during the film.
The screen itself is located on the top floor, up a set of wooden fairy light covered stairs. Upstairs, there is no roof cover, making it a beautiful setting with the Bangkok skyscrapers towering in the background. Seating is on traditional Thai triangular cushions, which surprised us and were actually quite comfortable. Should this seating arrangement not appeal, some patio chairs are also available at the back.
We had a lovely evening enjoying food, drinks, excellent company and watching Four Weddings and a Funeral. We’ll be keeping an eye out for upcoming events. The one and only complaint we have, is that films nights are only held monthly, we’d love it as a more frequent event!
