Had a difficult day and need to relieve some stress? We’ve found the perfect place!  The Bangkok Batting Center allows you to take out all that frustration on a ball that is flying at you at 130 km per hour using a base ball bat! If this doesn’t relieve your stress we’re not sure much else will. Alternatively if you play baseball (which we don’t…) it’s a great place to practice and improve your batting skills.

Hidden away down a quiet soi, this batting center is a little tricky to find, but once you’ve found it and tried it out we’re sure you will return. As you walk down the soi you will spot large yellow posters with the Bangkok Batting Center logo, and hear loud cracks as base balls regularly meet with swinging bats.

The reception area is air con but the rest unfortunately isn’t so prepare to get your sweat on. Upon arrival you need to buy tokens from reception. You can also hire gloves and helmets free of charge. We highly recommend the gloves as our hands did begin to blister after a few games.

Once you’re kitted out and ready to play you can choose your cage. There are 6 cages to choose from.  Each cage contains a machine that fires a ball at a different speed. You can select from 80 km, 90 km, 100 km, 110 km or 130 km per hour. The speed that the machine will fire at is clearly displayed on the door. Obviously, the faster the speed the scarier and harder the game will be!

You enter the cage, pick a bat and put your token into the machine. This will initiate the machine to start firing your 25 balls. The balls fire at intervals of a few seconds allowing you just enough time to readjust your stance. There are buttons to move the machine up and down should you wish to have your ball fire at a different angle.

The whole area is covered in netting and each cage is separated by a net so there is no need to be worried about being hit by the ball. Well, unless you stand directly in the firing line of the machine, or manage to hit the ball above your head.

There are chairs outside in the corridor so you can watch your friends and cheer them on. The reception also has beers and drinks on sale to make your visit all the more enjoyable. Prices are reasonable with Beer Lao Dark at 70 baht, Beer Lao 65 baht, Asahi 55 baht, Singha 45 baht, Sprite and Coke 15 baht, water 10 baht.

You can click on the picture above to view group discounts and promotions that are also available. We each used 3 tokens (75 balls) and felt satisfied as our hands and arms began to ache. It’s a great way to pass a couple of hours in Bangkok.
