By far the best second hand book shop that we have found in Bangkok, Dasa Book Cafe is a readers paradise. With four floors of second hand books at fantastic prices to browse through and a cafe selling tea, coffee and cakes it’s a great way to pass an afternoon in Bangkok.
The setting is fitting with creaky floor boards and narrow stairways it really does feel like you have found a hidden gem in Bangkok. There are plenty of places to take a seat and flip through the pages of titles that have caught your eye.
The Book Cafe is very well organised with maps explaining where to find different genres. Books can be found in an array of languages including Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, Danish, German and French and all are organised alphabetically across the shelves.
Although the books are well organised, the top floor does have a section of discounted book where you can rummage and sieve. Prices are as low as 29 – 99 baht in this collection.
If browsing over 17,000 books is not your thing, the book shop has an efficient spreadsheet online which allows you to browse the collection from the comfort of your own home and pre order what you would like to collect at a later date. It is updated every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The link can be found below:
Prices are extremely low and the shop will even pay you when you return any books. The prices vary depending on the author and condition of the book. If you exchange your books for store credit you will receive more than if you exchange them for cash.
If you don’t live in Bangkok, the store will happily ship books to anywhere in Thailand. All you need to do is send them an email.
