After visiting our first cat cafe a few weeks ago we were keen to visit another, and Purr cafe certainly impressed. The cats in this little cafe were some of the fluffiest and also laziest fur balls we have ever seen. The cafe provided great entertainment and food.
On entering the cafe you are asked to wash your hands and put on some fetching brown slippers as well as read the rules and regulations listed above. You can then take a seat and order food and drinks from the menu whilst waiting until a table is free in the room where the cats are kept. Although both the cafe and waiting room were full when we visited, it didn’t take long before we were seated amongst the cats.
The cafe is made up of three rooms. A room directly on your left as you enter acts as a gift shop with many cat related items available to purchase and the occasional actual live cat sleeping in the shelves.
There is another room further along where you can order drinks and food at a table. This also acts as a waiting area until a table becomes free in the final room where the cat petting takes place.
Finally the room with the cats! An interesting feature at Purr Cat Cafe is the ‘cat walk.’ This is an elevated and illuminated walkway for the cats to sleep, walk and pose on. It is safe to say that the cats certainly make great use of it.
The cats are all extremely well kept. They wonder around the room freely and show that it is their territory by sprawling themselves on sofas, chairs and anywhere they fancy. We recommend you bring a bag if you want some attention from the cats. Not one bag went unexplored by a cat whilst we were there!
Food and drinks were delicious and in reasonable portions. There is a large selection to choose from on the menu as well as fresh baked goods in the cafe, including cat shaped scones with clotted cream and jam. Food and milk to entice the cats for their company can also be purchased (30 baht per cup).
We enjoyed all the extra touches such as a cat salon, a cat family tree, cat toys to play with and interesting decorations such as photos of famous Disney cats.
Please note that some visitors may be so keen to get the perfect cat photo that they climb into your lap and onto your knee!
