Forget you are in Bangkok and be taken on a journey back in time to Britain during the colonial era. Sit back and sip a variety of teas while admiring the beautiful surroundings and indulging in delicious cakes and pastries. A perfect ‘spoil yourself’ experience.
The Author’s lounge has a lovely feel to it. Decorated with white wicker furniture dotted amongst green plants and palm trees it is hard to believe you are still in Bangkok. The walls display black and white photos of Thailand in the past and the Thai royalty. Staff are extremely friendly and efficient and quiet music plays gently in the background.
You can choose between a traditional afternoon tea set or a Thai inspired tea set. Both cater more for the sweet rather than savoury tooth, but as refills are included you can always order more savoury options. The traditional tea set includes scones, clotted cream and jams, duck in butter brioche, spinach and mushroom turnover, sandwiches, fruit cake, panna cotta, short bread as well as sorbet.. The Thai set is similar but consists of more pandanus leaf, coconut, lemongrass and other Thai infused options. The full menu can be found at the bottom of this post.
We definitely recommend you book in advance so you don’t miss out on this great afternoon out. Please note the Author’s Lounge is occasionally closed for weddings and others occasions, in which case, afternoon tea is still available but it is not in the beautiful setting of the Author’s Lounge.
