Whether young or old, an excellent way to pass your time in Bangkok is at Kopi-o Board Game cafe. It offers an incredible selection of 5 book shelves of games ranging from scrabble and monopoly to the adult only (and not for the faint hearted) Cards against Humanities. You can spend hours browsing the games until you find your perfect choice, or staff are extremely helpful and can give recommendations, as well as explain rules.
There is a cool feel and atmosphere to the place. There are children and adults playing a selection of games as well as individuals reading books and working on lap tops. Art work is also displayed around the cafe, and also in a dedicated gallery at the back, an interesting touch.
When we visited the cafe, the owner had just returned from a games convention in the USA and had brought back with him another 100+ games which had not yet been unpacked and placed on the shelves. We shall be returning to try those soon! All games are in excellent condition, with cards hand wrapped in plastic to avoid discolouration. As the owner has lived for many years in the UK, he has a superb level of English which was extremely helpful to us.
The food and drinks selection is good and very well priced. Service was quick and the food very enjoyable. When we were inspecting the spring rolls (purely out of interest to identify the vegetables inside) staff were automatically over to ensure everything was OK and to make sure there weren’t any problems.
An excellent 4 hours spent, and we think we may even be tempted into looking into membership options.
